Design, Web Design
Some designers devote most of their time to perfecting the top of their website. Their rationale goes a little something like this: Because the top is the first section of the website that visitors see, therefore I should make it as aesthetically appealing as possible.
What they forget is that 90% of visitors once they land on a homepage tend to scroll down quickly. In most cases, they do so because they are looking for information such as your contact details, testimonials, or even your location.
Before we delve deeper into this topic, let’s answer the following question:
What is a website footer design?
A website footer can be defined as that section of your website that is at the bottom. It is the opposite of a website header, which appears at the very top of the page of your site.
So, the website footer design allows you to create the kind of footer that will help your visitors. How do you create the best website footer? You achieve this by following these three principles:
Every Website Footer should contain the following:
An example:
John is frantically looking for a plumbing company in Miami. His friend Lucas, suggests five companies for him. Then Lucas sends John a spreadsheet that has five companies that he trusts. On the list, each company has a URL or a website address. Let’s call them company 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Without wasting time, John starts with company 1. The website doesn’t open, he assumes that company 1 is out of business and proceeds to the next company on the list. He enters the website on the browser and waits for it to open. It seems to take forever to open, and John doesn’t like waiting in vain for a website to open. By now his patience is running thin as he suspects all the plumbing companies suggested by his friend are duds.
But because he is looking for a good plumber, John decides to try Company 3. Walla! the website opens faster. “Whoever designed this website is a pro,” John muses as he scrolls down looking for a number. He lands at the footer of the website, and guess what he finds? Tons and tons of images of the plumber busy at work. “How am I supposed to contact them now?” John asks himself as he scrolls the website relentlessly, trying to find the company’s contact details. Eventually, he gives up and tries Company number 4. The website design is top-notch, plus it’s easy to navigate. John scrolls down and finds all the contact details he is looking for. Tired of jumping from one bad website to another, he decides to call this plumber right away. Thanks to having a great website footer, it was easy for John to contact them. Just like that, they get a business from John.
See how any website that has a creative website footer stands a good chance of boosting conversions? This could be your business as well.
